Tamil Nadu is accelerating its transition into high-value
textile manufacturing with the launch of the Tamil Nadu
Technical Textiles Mission (T3 Mission), a flagship initiative
announced in the State Budget 2025–26. With an outlay of Rs.
15 crore, the mission is being implemented by the Department
of Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu, with a clear focus on
promoting technical textile production, attracting investments,
and positioning the state as a leading hub for advanced textile
manufacturing.
Envisioned as an industry-centric programme, the T3 Mission is
anchored by a dedicated Project Management Team (PMT) at the
Directorate of Textiles, supported by a panel of national and
international technical consultants. This framework ensures
comprehensive, end-to-end support—from project
conceptualisation to commissioning—enabling both new and
existing textile enterprises to diversify into the rapidly growing
technical textiles segment.
In its initial phase, the Department has undertaken extensive
outreach through evangelisation sessions across key textile
clusters such as Coimbatore, Tirupur, Karur, Erode, Madurai,
and Salem. These engagements have generated strong interestamong industry stakeholders, many of whom are now actively
exploring technical textile ventures with guidance from
empanelled consultants.
Building on this momentum, the second phase of the mission
introduces targeted financial support. Eligible units can avail
assistance covering 50% of the end-to-end technical support fee,
capped at Rs. 50 lakh per unit. The assistance is structured
through milestone-based disbursements, ensuring accountability
and effective project execution.
To strengthen global exposure and industry linkages, the
Department of Textiles is also facilitating a Government-cum
Industry delegation visited to Techtextil Frankfurt 2026, held
from April 21–24, 2026, in Frankfurt, Germany. The delegation,
comprising around 10 entrepreneurs exploring investments in
technical textiles, will gain valuable insights into global
technologies, innovative products, and emerging market trends.
The visit will also provide opportunities for direct engagement
with international manufacturers, fostering potential
collaborations and joint ventures.
Further reinforcing its global outlook, the T3 Mission is actively
promoting international partnerships, particularly through joint
venture opportunities with leading Taiwanese companies in
segments such as activewear, athleisure, nonwovens, and
footwear.
With robust industry participation and proactive policy support,
the T3 Mission is poised to play a transformative role in Tamil
Nadu’s textile ecosystem. By enabling innovation, facilitating
investments, and expanding export potential, the initiative is set
to position the state at the forefront of the global technical
textiles landscape.
