TJX Companies removes fur, angora, mohair from its products

TJX Companies, the parent company of TJ Maxx and TK
Maxx, has decided to remove all natural fur from its col
lections. This includes angora, which comes from rabbits, and
mohair, which is sourced from angora goats.
The decision followed a recent investigation into farms certified
under the Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS), where reports
of animal cruelty were highlighted. According to an updated
company statement, TJX businesses worldwide are now
considered “fur-free.”The company stated that it does not
knowingly source products containing angora or mohair fibres.
However, it mentioned that due to the complexity of its off-price
purchasing model, items containing fur may sometimes be
unintentionally supplied to its stores or online platforms.
TJX emphasised that it is working to remove any such products
quickly and is committed to improving ethical sourcing
practices. The company also stated that it follows all relevant
laws and regulations, including those related to animal
protection.
